Campus Crime Policies

In accordance with the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, TUI University makes available to all students, faculty, staff and administrators the Campus Crime Statistics Report as submitted to the Department of Education.

The Campus Crime Statistics Report is available at http://ope.ed.gov/security .

The report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the university, and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible to the campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other related matters.

Responsibility for Safety and Security
In its commitment to providing a safe environment for all constituents of the University, TUI has adopted the following policies regarding safety and security. Further, TUI reminds all students, faculty, staff and administrators that personal responsibility is a key component to safety, security and crime prevention.
Pursuant to federal law, TUI University will make available to all students, faculty, staff and administrators the Campus Crime Statistics Report as submitted to the Department of Education.
This information will be posted on the DOE website. An annual Campus Crime Statistics Report will be provided to any interested party.

TUI Campus/Offices
Pursuant to TUI University’s model of pedagogy there is no classroom requirement; thus, the university campus consists of the offices located in Cypress, California. The primary source or authority for security and law enforcement is the Cypress Police Department as supported by on site security staff as well as pre-designated administrative staff.

Secure Access
All on-site members of TUI University receive ID badges which serve as key cards allowing access to pre-determined floors of the building. All guests are required to check-in with the building security and after receiving a visitor’s badge may be accompanied by TUI staff to the TUI offices.
Weekend and after-hours access to the TUI offices is restricted to only those with access key cards.
The TUI offices and building are equipped with video monitoring systems.

Crime Log
The Office of Vice President for Administration will be responsible for maintaining a log of all crimes and reports of crimes including allegations of sexual harassment. The logs will record the day, date, time, location, nature and the disposition of the crime, complaint, etc…
The Office of Vice President for Administration will allow inspection of the logs upon request unless where access and/or disclosure is prohibited by law or otherwise may violate the privacy rights of victims or interfere with an ongoing investigation.

Reporting Criminal Activities and Safety/Security Concerns
All on-site members of TUI University are strongly encouraged to report any criminal activity that occurs within the university community as well as any safety concerns which may pose as hazards.
Reports of crimes or emergency situations should be made to 9-1-1 immediately.

Reports of safety concerns or hazards should be made to the Office of Vice President for Administration.

TUI University Voter Registration Policy

The Higher Education Act of 1998 has a provision that every college and university must have enough voter registration forms on hand to register the campus 120 days prior to the election. Recognizing that all TUI students are in remote locations across the nation and the globe, compliance with the specifics of the Act is nearly impossible. Thus, it is the policy of TUI University to make a “good faith effort” to comply with the requirements of the Act by providing information regarding voting and voter registration.

Presidential elections are held every four years on the Tuesday after the first Monday of November. There may be additional primary elections in your town and/or state. Students are urged to check with their local elections officials for further information regarding voter registration, where and how to vote, etc... More than likely, the official responsible for voting is the Secretary of State of your state of residence. Remember that you can only register at one location.
Note that pursuant to Help America Vote Act (HAVA) first-time voters will be asked to show photo identification with address on the identification to prevent voter fraud, and to ensure that voters who are eligible to vote will have their votes counted.

Students who have yet to register to vote may choose to register to vote using the following link: http://www.rockthevote.com/rtv_register.html
